In Ukraine, among supporters of Ukrainian football championship* prevails negative perception of the idea to combine National Ukrainian and Russian championships. Half of the football fans are against this idea, whereas 32% support championships merger. Almost 18% couldn’t make up their mind about this question.
Speaking about regional peculiarities, in Kyiv, Northern, Western, and Central regions most of the supporters oppose the idea of merger. Simultaneously, the fans from Southern and Eastern regions mostly support Ukrainian-Russian championship.
47% of Ukrainian population aged 15-59 years old is not interested in football at all. Ukrainian football championship is followed by 44% of Ukrainians, while 9% among football supporters are indifferent about Ukrainian championship.
66.6% of men and 22.4% of women are watching Ukrainian championship. Simultaneously, 23.4% of men and 70% of women aren’t interested in this kind of sport at all.
Among those who follow Ukrainian football championship, only 3.7% prefer watching matches on the stadium. One third tries to watch most of the TV broadcast of matches. About 24% are actively following the results in the news, on the Internet, in the press, and sometimes are watching matches on TV. The rest (39%) from time to time are following the results in the news, on the Internet, and in the press.
FC "Dynamo” Kyiv has the biggest number of supporters–this FC was supported by 37% of those who followed 2009/2010 Championship. The second place is occupied by FC "Shakhtar” Donetsk (30%). "Dnipro” Dnipropetrovsk, "Metalist” Kharkiv and "Karpaty” Lviv share the third place (each of the club is rooted by something more than 5% of Ukrainian football championship supporters).
